Default Randy got a barra- Sorry Nath86

Went down the local harbour last night for a fish after work.
Randy was using a 150 white with a red head lure and had been working it back at different speeds for an hour or so. He paused the lure 1m out from the rock wall because a 40cm odd fish had followed it in. The fish lost interest so randy began to lift the lure out of the water. Just as the lure was being lifted a barra came out of the depths and smashed it. Barra was released for another day.
I was also fishing a small creek on the way back to the car with a 70mm deep diving bass lure when I got hammered by a monster. This thing ran me back and forth up the creek a couple of times before it just decided to sit on the bottom and make itself heavy, and it was heavy. After about 10 minutes I had it back to the rock wall and 300mm of trace out of the water. I couldnt put anymore hurt on it or the S10 would have snapped so Randy scaled down the rock wall and was just about to grab the leader when it spat the lure which whistled past Randy's and my heads at a huge rate of knots. I never got a look at it but we are guessing a rather xtra OS cod. Going back tomozza night for another bash.
    Pics below.
    Cheers
    Steve

Yer mate that Egrel S10 is a cracker of a rod. This was easily the heaviest fish I have had on it and I wouldnt say it was easy getting 2-4 inches at a time off the fish, but it did handle it well hey.
Nearly went bum up when it spat the lure I had that much pressure on it.

The cook at the camp will cook them up for us but we release most for breeding purposes mate. The territory around here isnt that good for them to breed so the more we let go the better.
No size or bag limits in wa except in 2 rivers. Very strange setup.

Steve, Barra size limit is 55cm in our local waters (Karratha / Point Samson Area) with a bag limit of 2.

Yet to give 'em a crack this season but the water temp was 28.7 today in the ocean.

    Cheers Nath
It's not about the fish, it's about fishing!
