Unfortunately , It is what it is Al ….. but that is one of the reasons for going to Weipa as there are options . As Fish said , he has only ever lost 1 days guiding because of weather - I guess a Cyclone will do that

great memories Chewy ….. hopefully more to come in the not too distant future

Bargy seems to be doing well & according to Jason (Guide) he and his family are enjoying the move . Not sure if it is true but I think the plan is for Bargy to take over the business from Fish

    I can understand why

With the Development road due for completion in 2020 (sealed through to Weipa) a whole new world will open up . The caravan park was probably half filled last week - I reckon you'll struggle to get a spot after the road is completed. That said according to Jason there have been boats in the caravan park that hadn't moved in days & weeks because of the wind & sloppy conditions .

I guess if you've on no deadline you can wait it out... That would be nice, wouldn't it...

"I reckon you'll struggle to get a spot after the road is completed."

Exactly right. Good for guides etc but no good for fishermen. Grey nomads and "adventure seekers" will flock there and stay with a sealed road. Cross Weipa off as fishing destination.

Three more crossed off Karumba, the Daly and more so on the Roper in last 5 years since formal camping park introduced at Tomato Island (part of Limmen National Park). What the park didn't kill the Iron Lady has.

Port Roper will be next. Being squeezed with pressure from the west and the south.

Having the bitumen right thru would be getting the guides a bit nervous I think
the world is a lot better place if you just smile
