    Default Has the tide turned..

After the week from hell with some family ill health, i have finally got the chance to have a couple quick trips, one with Pete and another where i took a friends nephew for a spin. The trip with Pete was less than inspiring for me,losing a couple of good fish, one in a spectacular way,but ended up getting a couple small fish. Pete had a good day getting a few. I was particularly good on the net,and tying new leaders as Mr Snagged made a reappearance.

Yesterday we hit the water around 7,in one of the thickest fogs i have tried to navigate..as i got somewhere near River Heads i got a text from Pete asking where is was..i replied...im buggered if i know... Anyway..we slowly navigated down the straits not venturing far, and struck the turn of the tide. Normally i dont like fishing the start of the run out,but the fish decided to play the game, sitting on a deep corner, with a steady variety of Blue salmon, trevally, bream, queenfish, flounder??? and a few nice threadies. They really are a welcome bycatch on the light gear, with the downside being we had to keep one as i couldnt revive it. The blues seem to be no problem even though they go harder, but the threadies just seem to knock up,probably a result of that first blistering run when they realise they are hooked. I saw the bottom of the spool on a few occasions yesterday, but at least i didnt end up tangled through the trees. Most were caught on 6lb fireline and 12 lb schneider leader, and a few of the new Zman 2.5" Grubz colours,Gudgeon being a standout.I also tried some of the new Pro_cure Garlic scent. While none of the fish were massive, the threadies were 84-93 cm,and the blues being between 50-60 cm.It was good teaching someone new the little i know about plastics too,and seeing his smile when he landed his first thready was great. Ended up heading for home after lunch into a light northerly seabreeze. Was a great way to clear the head after a pretty crappy week.

Good read Chewy, plus top pics as usual. Good variety over the weekend I see,and you reckon your net skills are improving?
I guess the beers in the pics with Petey were yours perchance? No mention of a full boat on Sunday morning either lol.

How much?? Lol. The Burrum coming good now? Water looks ok. If I hadn't used some iffy fuel (read ride on fuel) to run the motor the other day you would most likely seen me yesterday.
