I had high hopes of hitting Maroochy river this morning for jewies on the early tide change. Beautiful morning with little to no wind.
I was trying to sound out bait school but could hardly find any at all. So just did a couple drifts throwing around to see if I might find a lucky Jew but little to no hits after an hour or so I change tactics and hit the pylons. With pretty much instant success on a aggressive little GT I was finally on the board.
I spotted a school of fish on my sounder so I threw my plastic and came up tight with a bream few more casts and a small big eye popped up. So I decided to quickly throw on a 2.5 Grub on my 4lb rod and have a bit of fun on the silly string. I pinned a good 5-6 bream and 3-4 big eyes nothing huge but good fun on the 4lb.
Bumpt into Matt on the river and had a chat to him for a bit then went back to the pylons the school was still there but wouldn't take anything so I quickly got bored and thought it was a nice warm day I wonder if I could pin a Jack? half hour into it and had the slightest tap so I let the lure flutter down then * WHACK* It was on and wide awake. Bloody good fun on 8lb braid very stoked.
I headed home after that knowing my day was very successful.
Lure of choice was a Z-man Minnowz in opening night on a 1/4 TT 3/0 jig head and 2.5 Grubz in violet sparkle on a 1/8 1/0.
