decided late to head to the salt to see how the fresh had affected the river ,being high tide there was nice blue water pushing in .found a nice bank to start with lots of run and eddies ,found a small barra to start with going around 700 sitting in a back water just as the tide was running out .realeased it water side to swim off, moved along the bank more to 20ft of water and big arche s sounded mid water ,i thought barra or threadies so flicked the sebile flat shad out a few hops and something was interested but not big .up came a healthy bream foul hooked in the head ,few more casts with spot lock on now and water pumping i found something a bit larger that pulled a heap of drag in the current then came clear out of water ,a large thready showing its great yellow tail and sides a good fight on 30lb and look around to grab net f.... no net so boggers it was a few struggles but finally a great fish on the mat going 103cm .by the time you unhook and get ready again(forgetting to put spotlock on) the drift has taken me about a K away from spot so motored back up sounding as i go and found a group of fish a bit further down .a fair few casts later a connected to another good fish ,great fight again and into boat this one going 980mmand fat .by this time the fresh had met me and it went quiet with the fish vacating the area probably moving with the salt edge .out at 8.00am back at 12.00 with two nice threadies Attachment 35847Attachment 35848Attachment 35849Attachment 35850
