With the slim beauty Dids I go 14 wraps up and 12 back. Never had one break. You probably don't need that many wraps, but I'd rather too many than not enough.
A bit of extra insurance doesn't hurt.

I find it has more to do with drag settings than knots Dids.
I use a double uni and can wind in fish a lot bigger than jacks. I can wind in 2m sharks, big heavy rays, and the big queenie was no problem at all on 30lb main, 45 lb leader. The threadies hit harder than big jacks, and they dont bust my knots, just keep finding structure, grrrr.
best thing I ever did was tie my line and leader to a set of scales, and memorise what 10lb of drag feels like. Now I set max drag by feel, so when a fight is on, I can trust the line and knot not to break. Then all i have to worry about is rub off on structure.
cheers

This how U tie it Ffej?
I use a surgeons loop for attaching my wind ons. Never had one let go yet.
In the video link below they bring the line through the loop twice. I do it 3 times.
I use an improved perfection loop for attaching terminal tackle.

Yes mate, exactly like that, but before I pull the knot down, I pull the figure eight mono leader down tightly. I use pliers . I then pull the braid down to meet the leader. I wet the braid of course too to restrict friction on the mono leader.
It's a great knot, strong and very fine. It also sits the right way for casting as well. The braided part of the knot goes through the guides first with the knot going through last.
Just make sure you tie it correctly and you won't have any dramas.
do you double the braid jeff?
Good story dids, the bustoffs sounded great, i think you are going the wrong way you need to quadruple your line, anything to give you more of a chance, the jacks have the upper hand atm.
Great work Dids, good to see your putting that yak to some good use. Sounds like your cracking the code with the Reds, don't let those bigger ones get the better of you though, take revenge.
Enjoyed the read Dids :)
Glad to see you back out there getting into your beloved Jacks, but getting them out of those snags without getting busted?....Bit like pulling teath. ;)
Sure the exercise is doing you good to mate.
You are on the money mate finding fish and hooking them so I reckon the big mother wont be far behind... You will get it!
